John R. Kelly, Company G, 105th New York Volunteers, of Carlton, New York is the 3rd Great-grandfather of Brother Von Mosser. John enlisted on November 27, 1861 when he was 19 years of age. He mustered in as a private at Trumansburg to serve three years. He served in Company G, was promoted to Corporal, March 25, 1862. Returned to the ranks when transferred to Company G, 94th New York Infantry. His brothers, Royce and George, both served in the 1st United States Sharpshooters.
George’s final resting place is in the Fredericksburg National Cemetery. He was killed in Orange County, Virgina during the Mine Run campaign.
